Capacity Building Cohorts

We are very excited to continue offering cohort-based training aligned with our commitment to support the organizational health and resilience of the nonprofits serving our communities. We believe these opportunities will help address organizational concerns and help propel organizations to the next level.

We have partnered with Jumpstart Bonterra to offer year-long, cohort based trainings for nonprofits in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Martin, Pinellas, and Hillsborough counties.

Note – the FY24 application deadlines have passed for this program. We are currently recruiting for FY25 Jumpstart Bonterra. There is an information session August 28 at 11 am. Register here.

Jumpstart Bonterra

In Fall 2022, Allegany Franciscan Ministries launched a pilot cohort with Jumpstart Network for Good. This cohort opportunity provided grant partners with effective fundraising capacity building support to create transformational change. The partnership is an immersive, year-long program that pairs nonprofits with a personal fundraising coach who meets with organizations (virtually) twice per month to help acquire, retain, and upgrade individual donors, and also provides integrated technology needed to engage community, diversify revenue, and sustain their programs.

Network for Good’s Jumpstart program is now Bonterra’s Jumpstart program, a tech-enabled capacity building program that allows grantmakers to strengthen nonprofit resilience and accelerate their community impact. To learn more about the organization, visit here.

One-On-One Coaching

Each participant will have the opportunity to match with a fundraising coach at the start of the program. Participants typically meet virtually with their coach twice a month, however, scheduling is flexible to accommodate the nonprofit’s calendar and upcoming campaigns.

Convenings & Peer Learning

Over the course of the year-long program, Jumpstart Bonterra will co-facilitate two to three cohort meetings. During these meetings, nonprofit leaders have the opportunity to share success stories, ask for advice, and discuss where they may be challenged in an open forum.

Technology & Technical Assistance

Participants will move from disjointed, isolated systems to manage and engage their donors through Bonterra's technology suite.

Educational Curriculum & Virtual Library

As a cohort, all participants are enrolled in a monthly best-practice fundraising curriculum that complements coaching sessions. Each month, a different fundraising topic is presented, and nonprofits receive corresponding tools and templates.

Fourteen organizations completed Cohort 1, and 12 organizations are participating in Cohort 2. Allegany Franciscan Ministries is committed to providing ongoing capacity-building support to cohort participants at the completion of the program.

The FY24 Jumpstart cohort application deadline has passed. This program began in late September.

IMPACT & RESULTS from Cohort 1:

  • 80% of Cohort 1 Jumpstarters increased fundraising revenues during the 12-month program.
  • Altogether, our $70,000 invesment generated $320,668 in net new individuals giving revenue in just one year’s time, animating community-based philanthropy across our six county foot print during a period of great economic uncertainty.
