Allegany Franciscan Ministries Awards $320,000 in New Grants


PALM HARBOR, FL, March 31, 2017 – Allegany Franciscan Ministries’ Board of Directors is pleased to announce recent St. Clare/Capacity Building Fund and All Region Fund Grant awards. Grants are awarded through a non-competitive process and intended to fund organizations, programs or initiatives that are strategically aligned with Allegany’s mission and focus.

$320,000 has been awarded through the St. Clare Fund, a fund for special projects and cornerstone partners, including those that work on building the capacity of the nonprofit sector in the three geographic regions that Allegany serves; Tampa Bay (Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties) Palm Beach (Martin, St. Lucie and Palm Beach Counties) and Miami-Dade County. This year, BayCare Health System in the Tampa Bay area was granted $300,000; $160,000 for Faith Community Nursing, $75,000 for Medical Respite for Homeless Adults at Pinellas Hope and $65,000 for the Medication Assistance Program. Allegany Franciscan Ministries and BayCare share a common history through the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany NY, who sponsored St. Joseph’s and St. Anthony’s hospitals, and founded Allegany Franciscan Ministries. In addition, Nonprofits First in Palm Beach County, FL was awarded $20,000 for Organizational Capacity Building & Nonprofit Training.
