Allegany Franciscan Ministries Awards $188,000 in Tau Grants to 21 Organizations


PALM HARBOR, FL, January 16, 2017 – Allegany Franciscan Ministries’ Board of Directors is pleased to announce $188,000 in Tau Grant awards since July 2016. Tau Grant funding focuses on increasing access to healthcare and improving health status for underserved marginalized populations through eliminating barriers to health, advocating for health reform and providing health navigation and care coordination in the geographic regions served by Allegany Franciscan Ministries: Tampa Bay (Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties), Palm Beach (Martin, St. Lucie and Palm Beach Counties) and Miami-Dade County. In addition, Tau Grants may be used to support basic and emergency needs such as food, shelter, and medication.

$39,000 in Tau Grants were awarded in Miami-Dade County: Advocacy Partners Team, Inc., Domestic Worker Law and Policy Clinics, $10,000; Good News Club Ministries International Inc., Hunger Relief, $10,000; Key Clubhouse of South Florida, Key Clubhouse Transition to Health and Wellness, $10,000; and National Kidney Foundation of Florida, KEEP Screening/Path to Wellness, $9,000.
