Overview

Our Palm Beach Region encompasses the counties of Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie.  Allegany Franciscan Ministries has supported programs assisting underserved and economically poor residents of the region, continuing the work begun by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany when they arrived in West Palm Beach in 1939.  To date, over 600 grants totaling more than $17 million have been awarded to community-based organizations in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties.  Grants have supported cultural competency, healthcare, community organizing, community outreach and education, advocacy, and non-profit capacity building efforts.  We intend to award a total of approximately $1.8 million in the region in 2012.
