Overview

Allegany Franciscan Ministries supports organizations and projects assisting underserved and economically poor residents in the Miami-Dade community, continuing the work begun by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany when they arrived in Miami in 1927.  Through investing in advocacy, capacity building, and community outreach/education opportunities, Allegany Franciscan Ministries increases access to health services and improves the overall health status of underserved populations in Miami-Dade County.  Nearly 500 grants totaling more than $6 million have supported the work of community-based organizations in Miami-Dade; we expect to grant $600,000 in Miami-Dade in 2012.
