Miguel A. Milanes

Miguel joined Allegany Franciscan Ministries in 2003; he directs the organization’s activities in Miami-Dade County.
Miguel has dedicated his career to serving those most in need. He served as communications director for the Florida Dept. of Children and Families and directed the Miami-Dade County Health Dept.’s Office of HIV/AIDS. In recognition of his work, President Clinton appointed him to the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS.

Miguel also worked as special assistant in the homeless program at the US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, DC, and as an administrator for a community-based organization serving Hispanics in Oklahoma.
Miguel holds an MPA from The City University of New York, and a Bachelor’s from Oklahoma City University. A native of Cuba, he’s lived in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Washington, DC, and New York City. He loves Miami and is dedicated to making it a healthier community in which to live. Miguel’s hobbies include traveling and maintaining a garden that provides food and shelter to native wildlife. |
